BIO
Hello! My name is Marissa "Mars" Cano. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s in Software Engineering. I will be graduating from San Bernardino Valley College in 2022 with my Associate's degree in Computer Science.
I will also be completing a professional certificate in Full Stack Development with MITxPro by October 2022. I then hope to transfer to Penn State World Campus to finish out My Bachelor's in Software Engineering while concurrently obtaining an Associate's degree in Mechatronics, Automation, and Robotics Engineering Technology.
From a very young age, I have always known it was my purpose to create a better future for others. I had a strong passion for technology but convinced myself the medical field was the only way for me to generate true change.
I committed to Nursing courses in my first year of college, but soon realized that this was not my passion.
So, I decided to take the ultimate risk and jump into a field I had no previous knowledge in: Software Engineering.
My first step was an Intro to C# class and once I got going I knew I had found my calling. I am glad to say I have since devoted my time to learning all that I can about the field. I am learning new concepts and languages every day.
I am ecstatic to share that I now work as a Coding Instructor at a reputable Children's Education facility and have also landed my first Software and Artificial Intelligence Engineering internship with MindHome Inc.
My ultimate goal in this field is to start a company that devotes itself to creating software that makes sustainable practices more accessible and fun to learn for a majority of the population.
